GROWING TOGETHER
Hello, we’re having a lot of fun making things.
We’ve been making things for a while now. Our mum encouraged us to get off the couch and create. We started by making earrings for friends, families, neighbours and teachers but haven’t taken it too seriously until we read Scott Pape’s new book, ‘Barefoot Kids’. After devouring the book, reading from cover to cover in less than a few days, it inspired us to take our passion, work hard and use our skills to bring our fun products to others.
In January 2023 we created Cuckoo & Crow. Why Cuckoo & Crow? We love the story of the crazy Cuckoo who lays its eggs in other birds’ nests, in this case the clever Crow, and the Cuckoo gets away with doing not much else, while the Crow raises its chicks with their own, doing all the hard work.
On our website you won’t find baby birds though, we’ve created a range of products that are handmade, some hand painted, and most using reclaimed materials (kindly donated by other businesses in the area or found at our local op shops).
In terms of materials, we use faux leather, real leather, cork, bonded fabric, canvas and vinyl. Our designs are all hand drawn, using a program called Procreate, where we make our own unique shapes and templates. With our small supply of reclaimed materials, we do small batches of products at a time, so if you see something you love, we encourage you to buy it straight away, or it may not be an option when you next visit.
Our team
Rose – Technology Extraordinaire
Rose is generally the one controlling our cutting machine and settings. She helps to assemble the products and has become a whiz with a jump ring or two. Rose also has a keen interest in website design and photography.
Laurel – Product Design
Laurel loves colour and design. She’s our budding fashionista with her intuition and ideas bringing about the many product colour combinations found in our range. She is constantly brainstorming exciting new masterpieces.
Quinn – Task Master
‘Is it ready yet?’, ‘when will you be finished?’, and ‘what’s next?’ are all common phrases from our littlest family member. She keeps us on our toes every step of the way and will ensure you get your package on time, meeting her strict quality control protocols.
narenna – mum
Everything else in the background is taken care of by Narenna. I’m a keen maker, loving the entire process, including spending quality time together with my kids.
